AAPC Owner Sentenced to 7 Years

August 19, Greg Lindberg, chairman of of Eli Global and the owner of AAPC, was sentenced to 87 months in prison, and three years of supervised release Wednesday nights. The billionaire was sentenced after a trial in March where he was found guilty of trying to bribe NC insurance Commissioner Mike Causey with campaign money in exchange for business favors. He was also charged with public corruption.

What does this mean for AAPC a major medical coding organization? Although there are no public comments from AAPC, AAPC’s business operations are independent of Greg Lindberg, and his conviction should have no impact on AAPC. Also, Lindberg has issued a press release shortly after the sentencing indicating his optimism of an appellate court overturning the decision.
