Medical Coding Dual Certification Course (MCDC): Instruction & Prep for CPC®, CCS®, & CCS-P® Certifications
Medical Coding Dual Certification (MCDC) Course Structure
I – Introduction to Medical Coding & Medical Terminology/Anatomy
- Foundations of medical coding, including CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS code sets, and interactive Medical Terminology and Anatomy & Physiology (A&P).
II – ICD-10-CM Coding
- Advanced ICD-10-CM Coding and Advanced Medical Terminology and A&P (Optional).
III – CPT Coding and HCPCS & Modifiers
- Advanced instruction in CPT, HCPCS, Modifiers, and Advanced Medical Terminology and A&P (Optional).
IV – CPC®/CCS-P® Exam Preparation
All students independently take this part to prepare for the CPC® or CCS-P® exams. It includes:
- Instructor-Led Interactive Group Study: Learn AMCI’s coding techniques and test-taking tips.
- Advanced Evaluation and Management Instruction.
- CCS-P® Instruction.
- Unlimited Mid-Month Mock Exams (MMM): Simulated online CPC®/CCS-P® exams.
- Unlimited Professional Medical Coding Boot Camps: Learn advanced techniques and strategies to pass the CPC®/CCS-P® exams.
- This part includes a full exam prep course.
Part V – Advanced Facility Coding & CCS® Exam Preparation (Complimentary)
What Does Part V Cover?
This section offers comprehensive preparation for the CCS® exam, covering:
- Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, and Medical Terminology (APPPM).
- Instruction and review of all five CCS® Testing Domains.
- Instructor-Led Interactive Group Study: Learn advanced AMCI coding techniques and test-taking strategies.
- Unlimited Mid-Month Mock Exams (MMM): Simulated CCS® online exams.
- Unlimited CCS® Boot Camps: Master advanced techniques and strategies to pass the CCS® exam.
- Study Groups led by AMCI Instructors.
Students can take parts of the CCS® course concurrently with APPPM or separately.
Note:
MCDC students have the unique opportunity to train for all three certifications—CPC®, CCS-P®, and CCS®. However, it’s important to note that only those in good standing with AMCI qualify for the CCS® certification, as it is offered complimentary with the MCDC course.
Building a Strong Foundation
To build a strong foundation, AMCI’s Interactive Medical Terminology and Anatomy & Physiology (APPPM) course is a required component of Part I. Conveniently, students can join this foundational course at any time during Parts II through V, allowing for flexibility and a smoother learning experience.
For the best possible results, students are strongly encouraged to complete Parts I through IV before attempting the CPC®/CCS-P® certification exams. After they complete these exams, they should then return to finish Part V and focus on the CCS® exam. This approach not only solidifies their comprehensive certification training but also enhances their readiness for a successful career in medical coding.
